More than a hundred primary school students from Sekolah Rendah Pantai Berakas Brunei II were awarded for their academic achievements during a prize presentation ceremony yesterday morning at the school's hall.

The event coincided with the launching of the school's new website.

Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Dato Paduka Haji Abdu'r Rahmani bin Dato Paduka Haji Basir, who was the guest of honour, was on hand to present prizes to prizes to outstanding students.

The ceremony began with a speech by the principal, Haji Suhaili bin Haji Jaafar during which he congratulated the students for their academic performance.

He added that parental support was crucial to the students' academic achievements.

More than 90 per cent of the students passed PSR in 2003 and the school was planning to add more academic programmes and extracurricular activities to further enhance the students' learning abilities.

He also urged the Bolkiah Garrison to assist the school in building a lab to prepare it for the new exam system in 2005 where science students will be required to sit for practical as well as written examinations.

Later, the guest of honour presented prizes to top three students in each class as well as those who achieved 5As or 4As and 1B in PSR last year.
