A total of 65 youths from six different mosques in the Belait District attended the Youth Mosque programme organised by the Belait District Mosque Affairs Office, held at the Kg Pandan Mosque in Kuala Belait yesterday morning.

A "Jawi" writing competition was also held yesterday.

Present as chief guest at the programme was the Belait District Deputy Chief Religious Officer Awg Hj Mohammad bin Hj Garing who delivered a speech prior to the prize and certificate presentation ceremony.

Belait District Mosque Affairs Officer Awg Zulkifli bin Hj Zakaria highlighted that the programme was meant to bring youths closer to the mosques, to implement the feeling of affection towards mosques, to provide motivation to youths on their role in Islam and to put mosques as a gathering centre for youths through guidance and goodwill activities.

In addition to the Jawi and Azan competitions, youths also participated in a religious talk called "The Role of Youths in Islam".

Awg Zulkifli also added that the programme would be diversifying its activities to include sports, a bicycle expedition from mosque to mosque, a religious talk session, a "Subuh" lecture, quizzes and other competitions.

The programme ended yesterday with a "Doa selamat" and a mass "Zuhur" prayer.
