Booty worth $40,000 recovered by

The Criminal Investigation Department
(CID) of the Police Headquarters in Gadong has recovered a total of
$40,000 worth of items stolen between October and December last year.
18 people were arrested during the 3-month period.
Yesterday morning, some of the stolen
items worth about $19,000 were displayed at the CID office in Gadong.
Among the items were clothing, watches, car stereos, a laptop computer
and some electrical items.
13 people - 11 locals and 2
foreigners - were arrested in connection with several house, shops and
car break-ins. These cases included car thefts that have occurred in
Brunei-Muara District.
One case involved a security guard
who masterminded the theft of several items by his gang members from
the department store he was actually guarding.
Four foreigners were arrested for
immigration offences, while another foreigner was detained for customs
offences.
Through the arrests, the Gadong CID
has managed to solve 24 criminal cases that were reported to the
police in Brunei-Muara District. The arrested suspects range in age
from 15 to 35. Some of the teenagers arrested were still studying.
The police in a press statement said
they welcomed the cooperation of the public in giving information on
criminal activities.
