Placing Brunei On World Map
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Brunei Tourism Unit has introduced new images to
promote the Sultanate to the world.
The Brunei Tourism Development
Division of MIPR recently commissioned renowned Australian tourism
photographer David Kirkland to complete a comprehensive photo shoot of
the `Kingdom of Unexpected Treasures.'
It was part of a $442,500 project
awarded to Kuala Lumpur based Mandate International.
With photo credit going to David
Kirkland, Brunei Tourism will receive 60 high-resolution images that
will be mass reproduced in specially designed photo CDs for
distribution to tourism industry members and the media for promotional
purpose.
Starting February 2004, three newly
designed advertising materials reflecting Brunei's unique selling
propositions of natural treasure, royal heritage, culture and
tradition will appear regularly in the travel industry as well as
consumer magazines throughout Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific.
David Kirkland was able to capture
the essence of Brunei's beauty and its friendly people.
The familiar `Visit Brunei Year' logo
- left unchanged for three years - has received a facelift and now
incorporates the recently snapped pictures in its design.
Its tagline - altered from `Discover
A Different Side of Asia' to `The Green Heart of Borneo' - better
reflects ecotourism and nature as Brunei's strong sealing points.
The first batch of 500 photo CDs for
the international market will be launched during the Asean Tourism
Forum in Laos, from January 30 to February 7.
The Empire Hotel and Country Club,
Sunshine Borneo Tours and Pan Bright Travel will be accompanied by
Brunei Tourism, Royal Brunei Airlines and a ministerial delegation to
the Tourism Forum.
With the new photos, promotional kit
and numerous projects for designing new promotional materials awaiting
approval, Brunei Tourism is undertaking initiatives to position
herself more forcefully alongside fellow Asean countries.
