Women Syabu Dealers Cracked In Kg Ayer
By M K Anwar
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A total of 200 grammes of 'Syabu' or
Methylamphetamine were confiscated by the Special Operations Squad
from the Enforcement and Intelligence Division of the Narcotics
Control Bureau (NCB) in several raids last week in Brunei Muara
District.
The raids saw the detention of 14
people, 8 males and 6 females, in connection with drug related
activities. Out of the 14 suspects, 11 were locals while the other
three were foreigners.
In one of the operations held in the
early hours of January 28th, NCB officers raided a house in Kg Saba
and two houses in Kg Bolkiah B in Kg Ayer.
50 grammes of 'Syabu' were found in
the houses in both kampongs and seven people believed to be drug
dealers were detained for investigation.
The NCB, in a press release
yesterday, said that the drug confiscation has crippled the activities
of three drug dealers who were active in Kg Ayer. At the same time the
NCB succeeded in interrupting the supply of drugs to addicts.
The operation followed surveillance
organised for several weeks by officers from the Enforcement and
Intelligence Division of NCB.
Drug trafficking can be punishable by
the death penalty.
The Narcotics Control Bureau
expressed its thanks to the public for giving information to the NCB.
It is hoped that such cooperation would be increased from time to time
and hopefully this will help eradicate illegal drug activities.
Those who would like to give
information on any illegal drug activities can call the 147 hotline
(during office hours) or mobile phone at 8777444 (after office hours).
The NCB assured that the identity of
any informers will be kept confidential.
