Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM) will be holding a grand celebration for the Lunar New Year Gathering 2004 on February 8, 2004 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas. The celebration also aims to present the first Academic Merit Awards to Malaysian students studying in Brunei.

During the upcoming event several interesting and exciting programmes have been lined up which include Lion Dance and Dragon Dance performances, the majestic 24-drum performance, and academic awards presentation as well as some entertainment by a foreign male artiste.

The organiser of the event, PWM, has invited all Primary One to Upper Six Malaysian students studying and residing in Brunei who have excelled in their studies to participate in the Academic Merit Recognition Awards.

The prestigious academic awards aims to support the aspiration of the Malaysian government to instil the importance of education and academic qualifications while at the same time recognising and encouraging potential students in their studies.

However, applicants have to go through several criteria where only results based on last year's academic performance achieved from respective government or private schools in Brunei will be recognised.
