PWM to organise Lunar New Year

Persatuan
Warganegara Malaysia (PWM) will be holding a grand celebration for the
Lunar New Year Gathering 2004 on February 8, 2004 at the International
Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas. The celebration also aims to present
the first Academic Merit Awards to Malaysian students studying in
Brunei.
During the upcoming event several
interesting and exciting programmes have been lined up which include
Lion Dance and Dragon Dance performances, the majestic 24-drum
performance, and academic awards presentation as well as some
entertainment by a foreign male artiste.
The organiser of the event, PWM, has
invited all Primary One to Upper Six Malaysian students studying and
residing in Brunei who have excelled in their studies to participate
in the Academic Merit Recognition Awards.
The prestigious academic awards aims
to support the aspiration of the Malaysian government to instil the
importance of education and academic qualifications while at the same
time recognising and encouraging potential students in their studies.
However, applicants have to go
through several criteria where only results based on last year's
academic performance achieved from respective government or private
schools in Brunei will be recognised.
Application forms can be obtained at
Sunlit Advertising in Beribi, GTE Directories in Gadong or Boustead
Sdn Bhd in Beribi and KB. Forms are to be submitted by January 31,

During the press conference, Mr
Jackson Ting, the chairman of the organising committee cum Deputy
President of PWM encouraged Malaysian business individuals to support
the prestigious event.
Tickets for the event are currently
available at several outlets including Sunlit Advertising in Beribi,
Boustead Sdn Bhd in BSB and KB, GTE Directories in Gadong, Borneo
United Enterprise, Fathan Rudi Lee & Associates in Kiulap and Tiong
Kee Huat in Lambak Kanan.
Tickets will be sold at $15 per
person. Entrance will be free for children below the age of 6. For
