Korban to be held on Feb 3
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Due to the announcement made by the
Religious Affairs Ministry that Hari Raya Aidil Adha will fall on
Monday February 2, the Masjid Kg Sungai Hanching Takmir Committee said
that its Korban religious activity will now be moved forward a day
where it will now take place on February 3 and not on February 2.
The secretary of the Takmir
committee, Hj Mohd Zaide bin Hj Damit said the Korban ceremony would
take place at the compound of the Masjid Kg Sungai Hanching.
It will be officiated by the adviser
of the Takmir committee, Dato Paduka Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, the Deputy
Minister of Education.
He said livestock such as goats, cows
and buffaloes will be slaughtered and distributed to relatives and
friends of the Korban participants as well as Muslims attending the
ceremony.
Able Muslims all over the world
perform the Korban rites as an act of worship on specific days, the
first, second, third and fourth days of Hari Raya Aidil Adha.
More than 1,400 Bruneians joined an
estimated 2 million haj pilgrims from all over the world to the Holy
Land for what is considered as a journey of religious duty required to
be performed by able Muslims once in their lifetime.
The first batch of the pilgrims is
expected to return home from February 8 onwards.
