Eight foreign workers detained in
KB raid

Foreign workers detained during the raid.
A total of eight foreign workers were
detained when they failed to provide official documents during a raid
codenamed "Buru Empat Operation", which was conducted at a few areas
in Tutong and the Belait district on Tuesday night.
Five of the detainees were
Bangladeshis and the three others were an Indian national, an
Indonesia and a Thai national. They are currently being detained in
the custody of the Immigration Department of the Enforcement Section
for further investigation.
A total of 11 Immigration officers
led by Chief Immigration Officer Awg Sulaiman bin Hidup had conducted
inspection on four location of a prawn rearing area near Kg Sg Paku,
Telisai, Tutong as well as the vicinity of Jalan Sg Bakong and Jalan
Kecil Kg Sg Tali Lumut, Seria.
A total of 40 foreign workers from
Thailand, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia were searched during the
operation which was conducted from 10.30 pm till 3 am.
Part of the purpose of the operation
was to eliminate illegal immigrants as well as overstaying.
