Narrow Escape For Family As Roof
Collapses

Begawan - A couple and their grandchild escaped injuries when
part of the ceiling unexpectedly collapse while they were sleeping in
the living room of the Jalan Setia Negara barracks on Sunday night.
According to Dyg Saunah binte Hj
Tamit, 63. she, her husband, their grandchild and another child had to
sleep in the living room as both bedrooms were damaged due to
termites.
The termite attack, which began in
Mlay last year, has also caused damages to their doors and bedroom
closet and they were forced to transfer items from their room to the
living room. They have been living in the barracks since 1976.
The family have been living in fear
of collapsing ceilings and also claimed to have been bitten by termite
worms falling from above.

Saunah said that her husband, Awg Abdullah Ismail, 63, who works at
the Public Works Department has repeatedly lodged complaints about the
problem but it has fallen on deaf ears.
