Bruneian Identity Highlighted At
Seminar

Begawan – 'Calak Brunei' refers to the Bruneian Identity, the
Bruneian people as well as the Bruneian nation.
Bruneian identity has its own
characteristics and values, which make it unique. This was highlighted
by the Head of the History Centre, Pehin Dato Dr Haji Awang Mohammad
Jamil Al-Sufri in a working paper he delivered on Saturday at the
National Seminar on Bruneian Identity.
The Yang Dimuliakan Pehin in his
working paper entitled "Calak Brunei: Dari Perspektif Sejarah," or
"The Bruneian Identity: From the Historical Perspective," emphasised
that the values and characteristics of the Bruneian identity has been
practised by Bruneians as a way of life since a long time.
In line with the status of Brunei as
an Islamic country, the values and characteristics of the Bruneian
identity befits the Islamic teachings and laws and is based on the
philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy, he said.
