Haj Pilgrims Told To Prepare For
Cold Spell
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Pilgrims from Brunei currently performing Haj
religious duties in the Holy Land have been advised to wear thick
ihram clothing as they may be facing the cold weather when performing
the wuquf on the Arafat plains in less than a week's time.
A pilgrim currently performing the
haj called to say that temperatures there ranged from 20 to 33 degrees
Celsius while in Jeddah it was between 20 to 31 degrees Celsius and it
was 13 to 27 degrees Celsius in Medina.
"We have been told that weather on
the Arafat plains could change from hot to cold in an instant.
Therefore we need to prepare thick ihram clothing," he said.
The wuquf ritual is the peak or
pinnacle of the haj, which when completed, the pilgrims are considered
to have successfully performed all haj duties.
He said pilgrims have also been urged
to bring thicker clothing for their stay in Mina as well as consume
enough food and drink.
More than 1,400 Bruneians joined the
estimated two million haj pilgrims all over the world to the Holy
Land. -- Courtesy of
