Haj Pilgrim Passes Away In Mecca

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Brunei pilgrim has passed away in Mecca recently, whilst performing the Haj. The late Abd Latif bin Hashim, 52, was from Kg Pelambayan, Kota Batu.

According to Acting Managing Director of Haj Affairs, Hj Talip bin Hj Apong, the late Abd Latif passed away on January 18, 2004. The body of the deceased was managed by Brunei's Consulate-General in Saudi Arabia and the family members, after prayers for the deceased were carried-out in front of the Ka'abah.

The Haj Affairs Department informed about the deceased to his relatives on the same date.

The late Abd Latif was performing the Haj with his family members through a travel agent package.

Meanwhile, Hj Talip further added that Brunei Haj pilgrims will converge in the Holy city of Mecca on January 26 before proceeding for "Ukuf' at Mount Arafah.

Speaking on the general state of health of the Brunei pilgrims in Mecca, Hj Talip said that their health conditions are good.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
