Bangladesh PM To Visit Brunei
Dhaka -
Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khaledu Zia left Dhaka Friday to begin
a four-day official visit to Indonesia and Brunei aimed at boosting
ties, government officials said.
Zia
is undertaking the two-nation tour at the invitation of Indonesian
President Megawati Sukarnoputri and His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei.
In Indonesia, Zia will hold formal
talks with President Megawati Saturday on expanding trade and
investment ties, a Bangladesh Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
Bilateral agreements on economic and
trade cooperation between the two Muslim countries are expected to be
signed during the visit.
On Sunday, Zia will leave Indonesia
for Brunei where she will be the first Bangladeshi Head of Government
to visit the Sultanate.
Economic cooperation, manpower
export, energy and education are likely to dominate the
Brunei-Bangladesh discussions. Zia is due to leaveBrunei forhome on
Monday.
She is accompanied by Foreign
Minister M. Morshed Khan, State Minister for Overseas Employment
Quamrul Islam and other senior officials.
