RBA Introduces Super Value Fares
By James Ken
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Now you can fly to Kota Kinabalu for a mere $38 and
to Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Jakarta, Surabaya and Denpasar for just $68.
What more, you can even fly down
under to Darwin, for a mere $138.
All this on the national carrier,
Royal Brunei Airlines. Giving the `budget airlines' a run for their
money, RBA introduces these unbeatable fares from today to discerning
air travellers in the Sultanate.
Effective today, 24th January 2004,
RBA will introduce these rates under the "Bluesky Fares". Customers
are offered exceptional value under this scheme. They can only be
purchased online from the RBA website www.bruneiair.com.
With the introduction of Bluesky
Fares, Royal Brunei is offering great value economy class fares to
seven destinations, direct from Brunei, a Press Release from RBA
stated yesterday. Fares start at $38 one way to Kota Kinabalu; $68 one
way to Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Jakarta, Surabaya and Denpasar and $138
one way to Darwin.
These fares will be offered for sale
effective January 24 for travel between February 1 and March 31, 2004.
The low fares come with a few
restrictions. For instance tickets are non-refundable once purchased,
no changes to the tickets are permitted once booked, the ticket is
valid for a maximum stay of 30 days only.
There will also be no child
discounts. Fares are not eligible for Royal Skies mileage accrual and
fares do not include charges on Taxes and Airport facilities.
Customers are encouraged to book
early to obtain these lowest fares. However, if seats sell out at
these low prices, other Bluesky Fare levels of $88 one-way and $138
one way will be offered to Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Jakarta, Surabaya
and Denpasar.
Even with these low fares, customers
will still be entitled to Royal Brunei Airlines' customary services
such as advanced seat selection, complimentary meal and beverage
service, baggage allowance as well as in-flight entertainment.
Hajah
Masrini Abdullah, Assistant to Manager E-commerce said, that Bluesky
fares have been made possible because of new Internet booking engines
that the airline soft launched in December, 2003.
Bluesky
fares are the first step in what will be a major initiative by RBA to
take advantage of its new online retail capability and to develop
other elements of the low cost airline model in order to compete in
the fast growing segment of the air travel business.
Bookings can be make on the website
in four simple steps. Customers have the ability to book a Bluesky
fare online and pay in person either at a Royal Brunei Ticket Office
or its new service centre at the Brunei International Airport.
Payment can be made online using a
Visa or Mastercard. Bluesky fares will be targeted at select
destinations and travel periods with offers changing regularly.
