The Chinese New Year festival was
very much celebrated in Kuala Belait on Thursday morning with red
coloured displays in every home as well as frequent lion dance
performances in schools, houses and supermarkets.
A number of government officials in
the Belait District as well as friends and relatives recently thronged
to the open house of a business proprietor, Mr Wong Ming Ching to
enjoy the Chinese New Year celebration.
An excellent Shaolinesque lion dance
performance by students of the Chung Ching Middle School was also
featured.
There were also lion dance
performances at the residence of Mr Loo Soon Nin, owner of Seria Yick
Fatt Supermarket and the second Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of
Commerce.
A large number of Malay visitors and
friends also flocked to Mr Loo's residence for the open house, part of
an annually held tradition to further enliven the Chinese New Year
celebrations.
