Arrest And Hand Them Over
Says Crime Buster

Begawan - Arrest, detention and handing over of criminals to
enforcement officers are some of the powers that members of the
Village Neighbourhood Watch have in combating crime and anti-social
activities that are increasing by the day.
Deputy Director of Criminal
Investigation cum Chairman of the Village Neighbourhood Watch, Hj Abd
Rahim B. Hj Md. Noor, while highlighting this at a meeting between the
Village Neighbourhood Watch of STKRJ in Kg. Mata-Mata, Gadong and
senior enforcement officials on Wednesday night added their role in
crime prevention is welcomed.
The meeting was held at the house of
Pg. Hj Mohamad, Chairman of the Neighbourhood Watch of the village.
Hj
Abdul Rahim said the Village Neighbourhood Watch institution,
established 15 years ago, continues to play an important role in the
society to combat crime that could affect the security of town and
villages.
He urged members to report criminal
activities to enforcement officers and carry out night patrols that
would help curb criminal activities.
The gathering was aimed at creating
awareness to the villagers in combating crime.
Also present were Penghulu Mukim
Gadong, village leader of Kg. Mata-Mata and members of the Village
Neighbourhood Watch of STKRJ of Kg. Mata-Mata.
Six government enforcement agencies -
Customs, Narcotics Control Bureau, Syariah, Land Transport Department,
Labour, Immigration and police officers from Brunei Police District -
were also present to exchange ideas.
The activity will be extended to
other districts in an effort to create more awareness to the
