Flyers to be distributed at the career dialogue
A career dialogue scheduled on
January 29 at the Institut Teknologi Brunei (ITB) in Rimba is set to
feature prominent ministry officers, corporate figures, policy makers,
academicians and human resource practitioners to deliver talks on
career development, jobs and scholarship opportunities for technical
graduates, students and prospective undergraduates.
Among the confirmed ministry and
companies participating in the dialogue are the Ministry of Defence,
HSBC, Empire Hotel and Country Club, Brunei LNG, Royal Brunei
Catering, Royal Brunei Airlines, Schlumberger Overseas SA, DST
Communications Sdn Bhd and HRD Services.

Sariani Hj Ishak, ITB Student Welfare Officer said the dialogue will
also serve as an informal discussion for its graduates with
prospective employers, as information provider for job opportunities
in particular firms or companies, as one way of helping interested
establishments to identify prospective employees from its batch of
graduates and students, and for the institute to expose and introduce
the idea of an entrepreneurial student.
The event, scheduled to take place
from 9 am to 3.45 pm will be officiated by the deputy permanent
secretary of the Ministry of Education Pg Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam
bte Pg Hj Metarsat at the Institute's conference room at 8.30 am.
It will be officially closed by the
acting ITB Director Hj Suhaila bin Hj Karim at about 3.45 pm.
The institute will also provide a
briefing on its courses and entry requirements for interested
applicants with their parents on the same day at the conference room
at 10 am and 2 pm.
"Application forms to join the
institute will be made available on the day at a price of $1.50 each,"
she said.
Hajah
Sariani said other events to be lined up on the day will include a
talk by Schlumberger Overseas SA at the Conference Room commencing
9.15 am, and Human Resources Development talk at room GR.28 at 10 am
and 2 pm.
The Institute runs courses such as
BDVTEC Higher National Diplomas in subjects such as Business and
Finance, Computing, Information System, Electrical Power and Building
Services Engineering, Communication and Computer Systems Engineering,
Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
It also runs a degree course on the
BEng Civil Engineering.

Polytechnic in the development of its curriculum, secondment of staff,
procurement of books and equipment, and recruitment of contract staff
