Prominent businessmen host guests

The first day of Chinese New Year in
Brunei saw many prominent businessmen greeting the new year with lion
dances and hosting friends wishing them Happy Chinese New Year.
Malay as well as other ethnic groups
celebrated the Chinese festive season with food as well as traditional
Malay cakes.
Some prominent business people who
had their open house yesterday were. MrJackson Ting, MD from Sunlit
Advertising, Mr. Tan, the owner of Liang Toon, Mr Steven Ong, Deputy
Chairman of Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and Mr Lim Tiong Tin,
chairman of the Brunei Taiwanese Association High ranking government
official as well as ambassadors in Brunei Darussalam also visited the
Chinese community
The Deputy Minster of Home affairs,
Awang Haji Adanan Bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia
Awang Haji Mohd Yusof, The Permanent Secretary of Culture, Youth and
Sport, Haji Jemat Bin Haji Ampal and the Brunei Muara District
Officer, Dato Haji Harun visited one of the prominent Chinese
businessmen's home.
Most Chinese businessmen felt
optimistic the year of the monkey might be a very good year for
business as the monkey is known to be lively. It is believed this
might boost the economy.
A few lion dance troupes also
performed at the prominent businessmen's homes. It is it believed a
lion dance can drive away bad luck and bring good fortune to the
family.
