The team behind the joint venture
telemovie entitled "Dayangku" of local Phab Production and Jaawat
Pelangi Sdn Bhd of Sabah arrived in Brunei yesterday noon after a road
journey all the way from the Malaysian state.
First to arrive by plane Tuesday
evening was Sabah's Member of Parliament and Senator Datuk Hjh Dk
Mahani Tun Pg Hj Ahmad Raffae, who is the telemovie's financier. Her
husband, Encik Onn Ariffin, is the Executive Chairman of Jaawat
Pelangi.
Greeting her arrival in the Suria VIP
Room at Brunei International Airport was Phab Production's Advisor, Pg
Kerma Negara Pg Anak Hj Abd Wahab Pg Sabtu Kamaluddin, and its
Executive Producer, Pg Hj Abu Bakar Pg DP Hj Mohamad.
In an interview, Senator Datuk Hjh Dk
Mahani said that she went to the Sultanate to accompany the production
team and demonstrate her support for the project. It has been regarded
as complementing the tasks of both countries to promote tourism
through films.
"I have been a politician since 1985
and I thoroughly enjoyed accompanying to film scenes in Weston and
Sipitang, where I also had the opportunity to meet people. Being a
politician, this is important.
"But I was also surprised at the
response and help from the Malay Bruneians there in ensuring the
telemovie's success. Locations chosen were never ever filmed before,
so you can imagine how supportive they were up to the last scenes,"
she said.
Meanwhile, the joint production team
did not waste time and within several hours of their arrival, they
were actively shooting scenes around Subok and the Water Village.
They are expected to complete filming
in the country within three days. The final result will be shown on
Astro Television Channel and sold in VCD forms.
In addition, there are plans to turn
"Dayangku" into a serial with many episodes that would need 80 per
cent of locations to be filmed here.
