A Dikir performance by Ma'had Islam Brunei students
A prize presentation ceremony for the
Khatam al-Quran Encouragement Scheme was held yesterday morning at the
Seri Begawan Religious Teacher's Training College. The scheme aims to
motivate young students to recite the Holy Quran.
Present as the guest of honour was
the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Sheikh Haji
Adnan bin Haji Sheikh Mohammad.
The Permanent Secretary said that
recital of the Holy Quran was an act of devotion to "Allah", the
contents hold various teachings in the aspect of physical and
spiritual life in the world and he congratulated all the recipients
who received prizes.
Ten students were selected to receive
the best prize in the scheme and the guest of honour presented them
with a cash prize of $1,000 and certificates. One hundreds and twenty
six students from various religious schools in the country also
received prizes

Mohd Najib bin Pg Haji Sulaiman from Sekolah Ugama Batu Marang was
awarded the Best Participant for reciting the Holy Quran. During the
ceremony, a group of students from Ma'had Islam Brunei presented a
dikir performance.
The Director of the Islamic Studies
Department, Ustazah Hajah Kasmah binti Haji Siput said that the
recital scheme acted as a motivational programme for children to learn
the Holy Quran and it was an annual project organised by the
department.
