A twenty-two-year-old permanent
resident and a 21-year-old local were each fined B$1,500 with 3
months' imprisonment in default after both pleaded guilty to consuming
Methylamphetamine or "Syabu".
Both admitted to consuming the drugs
in the country, said Prosecuting Officer Pg Nina Jasmine Pg Hj Bahrin
in the Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Armie
Abdullah and Marhanim Hj Norpit were arrested in a Police raid at a
home in Kampong Rimba.
During the raid, the police also
seized several electronic items, one hydraulic floor jack, one sports
car steering wheel and one pair of red shoes in their possession, the
prosecutor said.
According to the Prosecuting Officer,
those items found in the possession of the defendants had been traded
in with "Syabu".
Yesterday, the prosecution applied
for all items seized during the raid to be confiscated and forfeited
to the Government.
Both defendants were originally
charged under section 411 of the Penal Code. That charge was however
later withdrawn.
