Filipino Fined For Not Showing
Passport
By Rol Ezam
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A 22-year-old Filipino who failed to produce his
passport to an Immigration officer on duty upon leaving this country
for Limbang had to pay a fine of $800 in default one month’s jail
yesterday.
Kilton
Mabilog Guadalquiver admitted that he had no reason to not produce his
passport or report himself to Immigration officers at the departure
section for passport clearance at the Kuala Lurah Immigration Control
Post and had instead gone straight to the Malaysian border.
In the Magistrate’s Court yesterday,
the Immigration Prosecuting Officer, Reduan Hj Adnan, said that the
defendant first came to this country on December 22 last year for
visiting his relatives here.
After more than three weeks, he went
to the Brunei/ Sarawak border at the said control post, prior leaving
the country to Limbang. He then re-entered the country on the same
day, he said.
At the passport clearance section,
Immigration officers found that the defendant’s passport was not
endorsed with any departure endorsement. The officer had checked
through all the endorsements in the said passport and found that the
defendant had actually entered Limbang from Brunei on the same date,
said the prosecutor. -- Courtesy of
