James Hon Marketing and Management Service as well as Murdoch College
Two students from St Andrew's School,
Yong San Fui and Hlathel Khin, will be off to Murdoch College in
Perth, Western Australia at the end of this month.
They obtained a special scholarship
worth around B$8,000, thanks to James Hon Marketing and Management
Service.
Principal Mr Jacob Chin was delighted
and proud of their achievement.
He said that St Andrew's also
emphasises on balance of academics and sports for the students' health
of mind and body.
Such success came as no surprise as
this elite school is well known in the country for producing top
students.
He disclosed that in 2003, it
obtained 100 per cent passes with over 45 per cent five A's in PSR
results.
At the same time, 23 got five A's and
one even
achieved nine A's for PMB, the only
student in Brunei to do so.
He owed the good results to the
aspiration of teachers as well as parents, who had always encouraged
and motivated kids to do their best.
He hopes that one day, his students
will be able to serve mankind not only in the Sultanate, but also
around the world.
Both Ms Yong and Ms Hlathel have
ambitions of being doctors in the future.
They hope that this trip will be a
step closer to their dream.
The two were very happy and surprised
to hear the news that they got the scholarship.
They gave tips on how to get A's:
work hard and follow what had been taught in class everyday.
Mrs
Dana, a representative from Murdoch College, is also in Brunei to meet
the two recipients of the scholarship.
She revealed that each year, 20
Bruneian students take up courses at Murdoch College situated on the
campus of its university, in which a seat will be automatically given
to those who complete them.
She said that since this is the case,
students could make full use of all facilities like the library and
lab.
