Brunei Acts To Safeguard Against
SARS Says Ministry
Bandar Seri
Begawan – The Ministry of Health continues to take the
necessary counter measures in accordance with the guidelines of the
world health organisation, following the outbreak of the Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) the world over last year, a ministry
statement said yesterday.
Among the steps already taken are
recording of body temperatures of arriving passengers, especially at
the international airport and the Serasa Ferry Terminal.
Such measures have continued to be
observed until today and have never been stopped.
Lately, since a new case of SARS was
reported in China recently, monitoring of people arriving from China,
including those from Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai has been further
enhanced.
The Ministry of Health is always
aware and has been keeping a close watch on the current SARS
development.
Should a SARS case be found in the
country, apart from the measures taken according to the existing
action plan, the Ministry of Health will also obtain technical
assistance and cooperation from the World Health Organisation (WHO) if
necessary.
As a precautionary measure, members
of the public are advised to exercise personal hygiene at all times
and keep the environment clean in protecting themselves from any
infectious disease including SARS. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
