Parking woes at RIPAS hospital

Parking problems at RIPAS are
increasingly worsening with each day.
Several factors contribute to this
predicament.
One thing for sure is that there are
limited available parking spaces to accommodate both staff and
visitors.
Though several efforts have been made
to minimise the problem, such as constructing new parking lots and
expanding present ones, it has yet to be solved.
Free parking within most of the
hospital's compound also add to the problem.
Relevant authorities should extend
the policy of charging to all places within this area as already
implemented at the basement.
With this measure, we could expect a
dramatic reduction in average staying period of each car and
consequently, this allows other visitors who are in need of parking
spaces to take them.
It was noted that the "tyre-cuff"
policy has been imposed in several zones, especially just outside the
hospital.
Although this course of action is
probably a good idea to prevent drivers from blocking access points,
there are drawbacks in such tough laws.
Lanes become very narrow elsewhere
within RIPAS's compound and may lead to unnecessary mishaps.
On top of this, the price of removing
metal cuffs can be as much as B$350.
Parking problems are undoubtedly hard
to overcome and extremely difficult to rectify, particularly for
establishments where there is not much space to work with.
Nevertheless, all measures taken
should be thoroughly weighed, so that we could make the most of it.
