Over 45 enthusiasts attended a photo
clinic at Seameo Vochtech in Gadong on Sunday, which was organised by
the Association of Photographers of Brunei Darussalam in its zest to
improve the quality, creativity and aesthetic of members' picture
taking.
Up for evaluation were about 60
pieces of artistic camera works snapped by members during a
model-photography session held at Damuan Recreational Garden in Jalan
Tutong, December 28.
The creative pieces were submitted by
participating members, mostly on works they believed were their best.
Some four works were adjudged to be the best taken during the session.
At the event, members took
photographs of four local models, which was the third such activity
for the association several months after its formation.
On hand to deliver their professional
comments, views and verdicts were four photographers led by Hj
Shamsudin Hj Idris, the association's president, as well as Haji
Haranadi, Haji Hussin and James Ling.
The clinic was also attended by the
association's adviser Dato Hj Kassim bin Hj Daud as well as Borneo
Bulletin's photographer Hj Mohd Said Arshad.
It was organised to provide members
with an educational platform to improve their picture takings, as such
task is never easy and often the final results may not be to the
satisfaction and desire of photographers.
The general comments made by the four
panellists mostly suggested that photographers should put a little
thought into lighting, film quality, angle and perspective among
others.
Hj
Shamsudin said quality, creative and artistic picture takings could
become money-spinners as their good works will definitely command
great demand.
"What started as a hobby could become
income-earner for you if you are serious in learning the tricks and
trade of photography.
"Good photographers are usually
demanded for picture-takings at weddings and functions as well as
special photography sessions during festivities, graduation ceremonies
and so on," he said.
He then invited photo hobbyists to
join the association to fully enjoy the opportunities and benefits
offered.
"Interested parties can contact the
secretary Hj Samad Hj Abas or any member of the association," he said,
adding that by becoming members, hobbyists will also benefit from the
interactive opportunities with leading professionals in the club.
