Institute Meets Success In
Producing Hafiz Al-Quran
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Since its establishment, the Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz Al-Quran has successfully produced 46
students, 33 males and 13 females, who completed the memorizing of the
30 chapters of the Al-Quran.
Seven have been recognized as
'Al-hafiz' and were presented with an incentive.
Hafiz Al-Quran have been given higher
status in society compared to those who are protecting the holiness of
the Al-Quran through writing and printing, because what is kept inside
the hearts of these hafiz cannot be changed or contradicted by those
who attempt to corrupt the contents of the Al-Quran, religious
officials said.
When Radio Television Brunei (RTB)
visited the institute, the new students were engrossed in memorizing
the verses of the Holy Quran.
One new student is 11-year-old Haji
Muhammad Zul Arif Bin Haji Zolkepli, whose elder brother is also
studying in the institute.
Three students had been proclaimed so
far as having successfully memorized 20 chapters and 12 of them 10
chapters.
Based on the figures, the institute
has produced outstanding hafiz Al-Quran candidates in a short span of
time. The institute also received students from Sabah.
At the moment there are five students
from Sabah.
Besides learning Al-Quran and Arabic
language, the students are also involved in ordinary subjects.
A teacher and registrar of the Sultan
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz al-Quran, Mohammad Shah Bin
Haji Abdul Mumin, said the students should memorise five chapters
every year.
At the first year, they must memorise
chapters one to five, second year chapters three to 11 and third year
chapters 11 to 15 and five chapters until they are in secondary six.
After completing their studies in the
institute most of the students go abroad to further their education
