The musical 'From La Scala To
Broadway & Back' by Wendy Yong (soprano), Eddy Chin (baritone) and
Evelyn Hii (piano) left audiences in awe last Saturday night.
Some 100 people attended the Brunei
Music Society (BMS) dinner concert, which was held at Vanda
Restaurant, Orchid Garden Hotel.
Among those present were US
Ambassador Mr. Gene Christy, the new chairman of the Brunei Music
Society and Mr. Peter Foster, CEO of Royal Brunei Airlines as well as
representatives of sponsors of the BMS.
In his welcoming speech, Mr. Gene
Christy applauded his predecessor, Mr. Allaster Cox, the former
Australian high commissioner for his dedication to the Brunei Music
Society.
As Saturday night's event was the
first concert for the year, the dinner served as an 'ice breaker',
according to the vice chairman of BMS.
Other Brunei Music Society events
scheduled to take place this year are Roman Rudnytsky (piano) on
February 28, 'The Chambermaids (Wind Quintet)' on March 13 and a
performance by Peter Korbel (guitar) on April 16.
