Number of Muslim converts on the rise in 2004

The Islamic Dakwah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs has recorded an increase in the number of new converts in the country since the beginning of the year 2004.

On Saturday night another ceremony was held for a 28-year-old Iban from Limbang, Nateng Anak Ujan. Nateng chose Awg Muhammad Naqiyuddin bin Abdullah as his new name. The conversion ceremony took place at the house of Awg Haji Nor Hashim bin Haji Nor, the village head of Kampung Salambigar/Sungai Hanching in the Brunei-Muara district.

The chief guest at the function was the Director of the Islamic Dakwah Center, Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awg. Haji Adam bin Haji Ahmad. Also present at the function were several officers from the Islamic Dakwah Centre as well as the Penghulu of Mukim Berakas "B", Awg Hj. Ismail Apong and several villagers.

At the function, the chief guest also presented gifts donated by the Islamic Dakwah Centre and the Islamic Religious Council, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Awg Muhammad Naqiyuddin said he was very interested to embrace Islam because most of his friend and close relative have embrace Islam several years ago. Furthermore, he also had a lot of Muslim friends. He promised to learn the true teachings of Islam.
