Glamour, stars at Empire Hotel

Grand finale.
It was a night of glamour, glitter
and stars at The Empire Hotel and Country Club's 2003 Team Members'
Annual Dinner. Held recently at The Empire Theatre, the whole evening
was themed towards a night at the MTV Awards (cleverly called EM- TV),
from the award presentations to the sizzling hot performances by the
various departments.
The evening was well attended by the
Board of Directors- Chairman, Yang Mulia Haji Ali bin Apong, Deputy
Chairman, Yang Mulia Haji Saifulbahri bin Haji Mansor, Director, Yang
Mulia Haji Ghani bin Haji Abdul Hamid and Executive Director, Yang
Mulia Hajah Norhayati Pehin Dato Haji Husin and team members.
Anne Busfield, the recently appointed
General Manager of The Empire Hotel and Country Club welcomed guests
with an opening speech and highlighted, "We are all extremely
fortunate to be working in such a fantastic resort. I have worked in a
number of properties during my career and I can quite honestly say
that this hotel is the most outstanding hotel I have worked in from a
point of view of design, layout and interior design."
The JPH Chairman, Yang Mulia Haji Ali
bin Apong also delivered an official speech where he stressed on the
importance of service. "It is important to remember that we are all in
the service or hospitality industry and we must pride ourselves in
delivering more than what our guests expect."
The evening started with a grand
opening number performed by the PDS School Dance Theatre with the
hosts of the evening- Diva from the West- "Diana Ross" and Diva from
the East- "Anita Sarawak" coming down from the ceiling in a special
gondola. Lo Ryder, Brunei's hippest local rap artiste also hosted the
evening and performed a few raps much to the delight of the guests.
The five performances delivered by
the various departments were all professionally choreographed by The
PDS School Dance Theatre.
Yang Mulia Hajah Norhayati PDH Husin
graciously consented to present the award to Leader of the Year.
Special awards were also presented to the Best Dressed Male and Best
Dressed Female of the evening.
