It was a night of glitter and colour
at Baiduri Bank Group's "Malam Silaturahim" dinner for its Muslim
customers at the Royal Berkshire, Polo Club of the Jerudong Park
Country Club last night.
Gracing the lively event was the
Chairlady of Baiduri Bank Group, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak
Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Zariah. HRH was accompanied by Executive
Deputy Chairman and Director of QAF Brunei, Prince Abdul Qawi.
Also present were Prince Abdul
Fattaah, Princess Hjh Taiyibah Qalbul Bolqiah, Princess Hjh Ruqiyah
Mataul Bulqiah, Princess Khaliilah Khaliilatul Bulqiah and Princess
Naafi'ah Khairul Bulqiah.
The members of the royal family were
greeted by Baiduri Bank's General Manager, Mr Pierre Imhof, who in his
welcoming speech amongst others touched on the major achievements of
Baiduri Bank Group.
He said that the bank achieved better
financial performances which will strengthen the bank and allow it to
pursue its rapid growth, which he credited to the support for the last
10 years from the 3 local and I foreign shareholders.
"We expect the development of
infrastructure and industrial projects in Brunei to stimulate the
economic growth and we shall make all efforts in order that Baiduri
Bank, as a major local bank, is playing its role in this economic
development," he said.
The bank's new IT core banking
system, added Mr Imhof, will operate at full speed in the coming weeks
and one of the bank's focuses this year will be to continue expanding
and modernising its network.
Last night's event also saw the
presentation of a donation - a cheque for $25,000 - from Baiduri to
the RIPAS Cardiology Rehabilitation Centre. A mock cheque was
presented by Mr Imhof to Pg Hj Hashim Pg Hj Besar, CEO of RIPAS
Hospital and Dr Samuel Varughese, Specialist Cardiology at RIPAS
Hospital.
Besides a lucky draw offering
fabulous prizes, a variety of colourful performances entertained the
guests as they enjoyed their dinner.
The welcoming ceremony itself started
with the appearance of Batavia and local dancers walking into the
ballroom.
Guests artiste, Fio Bebrian belted
out several songs such as 'Copacabana', 'I Believe I Can Fly' and 'Bukan
Untuk Ku', while another Indonesian artiste, Putri Vinata sang 'Goyang
Senggol' and other numbers.
Local singers Farhan and Nurlela
showcased a lively performance. Fathan belted out the bank's theme
song that was composed by Fathan himself.
Among the guests present at the
dinner which is one of the major annual events held by Baiduri Bank
Group as a gesture of appreciation to customers, were senior
government officers and prominent businessmen.
