A total of fifty top students from various levels in year 2003 at Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri (PDSMM) Secondary School received awards and certificates of excellence in a presentation ceremony held at the school's hall, yesterday morning.

Before the award presentation, Madam Tan Lian Lian, Principal of Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri Secondary School gave a few words of encouragement by saying that teachers and the school exist to educate students and to bring out the best in their academic abilities, spiritual strength, sporting abilities and personalities.

She also congratulated those who had done consistently well in the school's internal exam, as well as students who had achieved excellent results in the PMB and 'N' Level examinations.

The Principal disclosed that Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri Secondary School had done quite well in three subjects at PMB, namely Geography, History and Art where the school is currently ranked within the top twenty in Brunei.

Mdm Tan added that she would like to see improvement in other subjects as well, adding that the results of public exam reflect not only the school's image but also the country's education and the student's capabilities themselves.

She also hoped that more students would get the "Most Improved" awards this year, as it would show that they are on the right track.

One of the recipients of the "Best Student" award for PMB results was Lim Ren Foo who had obtained 5 distinction and three credits. Lim said that he owed his success to hard work. He added that he studied at least two hours each day at home to prepare for his PMB, and that he hopes he can one day become a scientist. His advice to those who will be sitting for the PMB examinations this year was "study hard".

In the 'N' Level examinations, Siti Munirah binti Hj Kipli received the best award for 'N' Level results, with 2 distinctions and 4 credits.
