Top students awarded at PDSMM

Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri Secondary School students at the
ceremony.
A total of fifty top students from
various levels in year 2003 at Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri (PDSMM)
Secondary School received awards and certificates of excellence in a
presentation ceremony held at the school's hall, yesterday morning.
Before the award presentation, Madam
Tan Lian Lian, Principal of Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri Secondary
School gave a few words of encouragement by saying that teachers and
the school exist to educate students and to bring out the best in
their academic abilities, spiritual strength, sporting abilities and
personalities.
She also congratulated those who had
done consistently well in the school's internal exam, as well as
students who had achieved excellent results in the PMB and 'N' Level
examinations.
The Principal disclosed that Pehin
Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri Secondary School had done quite well in
three subjects at PMB, namely Geography, History and Art where the
school is currently ranked within the top twenty in Brunei.

Tan added that she would like to see improvement in other subjects as
well, adding that the results of public exam reflect not only the
school's image but also the country's education and the student's
capabilities themselves.
She also hoped that more students
would get the "Most Improved" awards this year, as it would show that
they are on the right track.
One of the recipients of the "Best
Student" award for PMB results was Lim Ren Foo who had obtained 5
distinction and three credits. Lim said that he owed his success to
hard work. He added that he studied at least two hours each day at
home to prepare for his PMB, and that he hopes he can one day become a
scientist. His advice to those who will be sitting for the PMB
examinations this year was "study hard".
In the 'N' Level examinations, Siti
Munirah binti Hj Kipli received the best award for 'N' Level results,
with 2 distinctions and 4 credits. Siti Munirah whose ambition is to
become an interior designer said that she prepared three months in
advance for the 'N' Level exam. She advised students expecting to sit
for the exam to think positively, concentrate on what teachers say in
the classroom, and to study hard
Both students would like to thank
their family members, teachers as well as the Principal for the
support and guidance that they had given them.
On hand to present the awards to the
students was the Deputy Principal of Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Menteri
Secondary School, Pg Md Norshah bin Pg Hj Mohammad.
