Briefing on border positions
A briefing, aimed at updating and
determining the border positions of villages and mukims, was held
yesterday morning for the benefit of penghulus and ketua kampong in
the Brunei-Muara district, RTB reported last night.
The talk was organised by the Survey
Department at the District Office in Berakas.
Surveyor General Pengiran Haji
Metussin bin Pengiran Haji Metassan delivered the talk.
The session, among other things,
dealt with updating border positions of mukims and kampongs in all
four districts, observing and planning of suitable borders for
kampongs and mukims, preparing guidelines to be used as specification
in determining borders for mukims and kampongs, as well as discerning
and evaluating public complaints from time to time regarding the limit
line of mukims and kampongs.
According to Pengiran Haji Metussin,
the Survey Department would relocate and update the position of the
borders in maps upon completion of surveys.
Border signposts will also be put up
by the District Office, marking the land area in accordance with the
data provided by the Survey Department.
The surveyor general explained that
the survey of setting of borderlines for mukims and kampongs entailed
precise considerations such as the hill terrain, rivers, compatibility
of residence and the effect of history.
