Princess Cites Importance Of Women
Capacity-Building

Begawan – Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna has stressed
on the importance of continuously placing a strong emphasis on human
capacity building with equal access to education, employment and
training.
This would help women to promote
self-development and place them in a better position to cope with
challenges as well as fully utilize opportunities in the increasingly
competitive world.
Her Royal Highness made the speech
while officially closing the 7th Area Conference Associated Country
Women of the World (ACWW) for Southeast Asia and the Far East
yesterday.
The Princess in her closing address
said that in bringing women into the mainstream of society, women need
to promote partnership with their counterparts without prejudice and
should complement each other.
Her Royal Highness said women should
adopt a life-long learning attitude and constantly update their
knowledge and skills.
“Especially in this globalise world
where information and communication technology is one of its main
drivers, women should capitalize on the benefits it presents in the
new economy,” she said.
Her Royal Highness received the
conference recommendation from Datin Hajah Masni, Conference
Co-Chairperson.
Her Royal Highness later received a
souvenir from Helda Stewart, ACWW world President.
The week-long conference with a
theme, "Working with women worldwide", addressed the many challenges
women face in their daily lives against the backdrop of globalisation.
The conference was organised by the
Brunei Darussalam Women's Institute (WI) with the cooperation of the
Youth and Sports Department.
