New Converts Trained On Quran
Reading
Temburong
- New converts in the Temburong District are given the guidance
and information they need in order to further understand the proper
teachings of the Islamic religion.
This is in accordance to the
objectives of the Islamic Dakwah Unit of the district, which is to
provide religious teaching and to help converts to further understand
and practice the teachings of Islam through practical training and
Quranic guidance.
The achievements of the newly
converted denizens of the Temburong District can be a cause of pride
as it shows that the efforts of the Islamic Dakwah Unit has produced
new Muslim converts who carry with them the ability to be able to
fluently read the Al-Quran and memorise the Ayat-Ayat Lazim and Nasyid.
This is evidenced by their winning
performances in Quran reading competitions among new converts in the
country for six consecutive years.
Among the efforts that have been
implemented include the basic guidance schemes for converts to
strengthen their understanding and educate them in the teachings of
Islam as well as to strengthen their hold towards the Islamic
religion.
Last year, the district had recorded
as many as 35 converts. In January this year, it has recorded three
more converts.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Dakwah Unit
has not ignored the welfare of the converts. It has provided shelter,
water facilities and home comforts.
