Sufficient Livestock Supply
Assured For Aidiladha
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Suppliers have assured Muslim families of a
sufficient supply of livestock for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Adha
or the feast of sacrifice this year.
A total of 293 buffaloes and 112 cows
were flown in to the Sultanate to meet the demand of the public for
the Hari Raya Haji celebration.
The supplies of the livestock for the
feast of sacrifice were imported from Australia’s northern territory.
According to Awang Yusran Bin Haji
Abdullah, Marketing Officer at the Mulaut Abbatoir Sdn Bhd, apart from
cows and buffaloes, goats and steers are also supplied this year.
Some 417 goats and 656 steers are
ready to be distributed to the public.
In the meantime, the price of cows,
buffaloes and goats has gone up compared to previous years.
It has increased due to the current
rise of currency exchange rate between the Australian dollar and the
Brunei dollar.
The approximate price of a live cow
and buffalo is $1,300 and above while the price of a goat is around
$220 per head.
All the livestock for the upcoming
Hari Raya Haji celebration must be bought from the Mulaut Abattoir
Centre.
The booking is opened since January
5, 2004.
As with previous years, the Mulaut
Abattoir also offers slaughtering and packaging services this year.
The forms can be obtained from
mosques nationwide. --
