Youths who participated in Outward
Bound Brunei Darussalam's (OBBD) first self-challenge programme 'Baath'
were urged to apply both their newly acquired knowledge and experience
into daily life, and not to let it go to waste.
Director of Youth & Sports cum chief
guest Awang Japar bin Bangkol stated this during a certificate
presentation ceremony held yesterday at the Citra Budaya Hall of the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Eleven selected youths aged between
17-37 years participated in the 10-day programme which ran from
January 6-15. The first of its kind, it was jointly organised by OBBD
and the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and
Sports.
"I believe the certificates and
experience that you have will provide you more confidence, allowing
you to be more active and aggressive in your respective career," said
Awang Japar.
"The ministry, through OBBD hopes to
upgrade the services that are not only limited to youths but also
members of the public who wish to participate in the self-development
programme. The present programme will be up-dated periodically for
customers' needs - especially members of public and other agencies,"
he added
Among the objectives of the programme
are to bring awareness and confidence to participants on their
potential and self-capability, as well as to instil the feeling of
love and responsibility towards the country.
The courses were divided into two
phases - Challenge & Adventure, and Mini Community work.
The programme was held at OBBD
Logistic Centre, OBBD Operation Center in Batang Duri and Belalong in
the Temburong district.
