Appreciation ceremony for schools,
teachers and students in Belait

A blessing and appreciation ceremony
was held yesterday morning for the lower secondary schools at the
Sayyidina Ali Secondary School in Kg Pandan, Belait district.
The ceremony, which was an annual
event, aimed to show appreciation to schools, teachers and students
who excelled in the PSR 2003 examinations throughout the district.
The chief guest was the Ministry of
Education's director, Cikgu Apsah binte Hj Abdul Majid.
During his speech, Chief Education
Officer of the Belait District School's Department Awg Juna bin Jumat
said Belait district had the highest passing rate in PSR examinations
for five years consecutively, with this year being the highest at
92.50 per cent.
Last year, 35 Belait students
obtained 5As, with six of them from Sekolah Rendah Lumut, while eight
schools achieved a 100 per cent passing rate.
Meanwhile, Sekolah Rendah PSN Pg Mohd
Yusof was awarded for producing the highest number of students with
5As and 4As.
Teachers were also presented with
certificates of appreciation, while an Innovative Teachers Award 2003
were handed to the teacher that produced the highest number of
students with 5As in the PRS examinations.
