GM appoints DAHA as local
distributor

General Motors Corp has appointed
DAHA Trading Sdn Bhd, a member of the Goh Hock Kee (GHK) Group of
Companies, as the sole distributor for its vehicles in the Sultanate.
In conjunction with this appointment,
DAHA Trading will be unveiling and launching the Chevrolet range today
at the GHK Motors showroom at the Beribi Light Industrial Estate, in
Gadong.
The appointment was certainly a
delight for DAHA Trading as it reflects the confidence General Motors
Distribution Corp has in the company, stated a spokesman for DAHA
Trading.
"We will do our best to promote the
Chevrolet or 'Chevy', as it is affectionately known, to the best of
our capabilities. We strongly believe that this new relationship will
be mutually beneficial on a win-win basis," he concluded.
General Motors Corp, founded in 1908,
is the world's largest vehicle manufacturer and has been the global
automotive sales dealer since 1931 till today.
They have manufacturing operations in
32 countries with its vehicles selling in more than 190 countries. GM
sold more than 8.6 million cars and trucks in 2002, which is nearly 15
per cent of the global vehicle market.
GM's global headquarters is located
at the GM Renaissance Centre in Detroit and is the first manufacturer
to sell more than 2.7 million trucks in a calendar year as well as the
first to sell 1.2 million SUVs.
With a line up of automotive brands
comprising of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Holden, HUMMER,
Oldsmobile, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Vauxhall, the GM group
distribution network in some countries also markets vehicles
manufactured by GM Daewoo, Isuzu, Subaru and Suzuki.
For Brunei, car enthusiasts can
witness the unveiling of the Chevrolet brand, comprising the Optra 1.6
auto, the Vivant 1.6 manual and the Aveo 1.5 sedan and hatchback, auto
and manual version at today's event.
The Optra, a new mid-sized sedan, was
manufactured in June last year by GM Thailand, which is a wholly owned
subsidiary of GM Corporation and one of the linchpins of the
corporation's expansion strategy in the Asia Pacific Region to cater
to the Asian markets.
GM Thailand has also been one of the
top motor vehicle exporters in Thailand over the last two years.
With its state-of-the-art technology,
it is the most modern car assembly line in Thailand and one of the
most advanced facilities in the Asia-Pacific region and worldwide.
