Fewer crimes reported to police
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Fewer crimes were reported to the police in the capital commencing the New Year until now compared to last year when they received 272 cases in the first five months, or about 54 a month.

No cases of car thefts reported to the Bandar Seri Begawan from the New Year until yesterday too.

Also on the decrease were cases of break-ins and thefts in the capital. However, cheating cases were on the rise.

Last year, the BSB policemen were busy as they attended to at least 10 crimes per day.

At times during last year, the policemen at the Bandar Seri Begawan police station received as many as 20 crime reports per day.

Hopefully, crime cases will continue to decrease as it would augur well for the nation.

Perhaps the public should also thank the police and other relevant authorities for the less crime being reported.

After the New Year, the police have intensified their rounds while other departments such as the National Registration and Immigration Department also made moves to flush out illegal immigrants.
