Japanese Envoy Host Dinner To Mark
New Year
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Mr. Yoshinobu Nisaka, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei,
hosted a get-together dinner party last night to celebrate the
beginning of 2004 with Japanese residents in Brunei.
For the Japanese, the New Year period
is a very significant time of the year.
Japanese families celebrate together
by welcoming the arrival of the New Year with an invigorated spirit as
well as a wish for happiness and good health.
In his remarks at the dinner, Mr
Nisaka expressed his delight over the continued expansion of
Brunei-Japan relations.
Last year's ASEAN-Japan Exchange Year
saw the development of relations in a variety of areas.
The consistent support from both the
people of Brunei and Japanese residents has ensured meaningful
exchanges and allowed the close ties between the two countries to
develop further.
This coming year sees the 20th
Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between
Brunei and Japan.
Many events have already been planned
and it is hoped that these will be undertaken with the same vigour as
that of the Exchange Year.
In doing so, the bonds between Brunei
and Japan will grow even stronger.
The dinner party was held at the
Japanese Ambassador's residence on Jalan Kota Batu.
Those who attended the party had a
wonderful evening and enjoyed playing games and eating Japanese New
Year delicacies, including mochi (pounded rice cake), along with the
well-known favourites, sushi and tempura. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
