Food Dealers Urged To Promote
Health Products

Begawan - Food dealers in Brunei are urged to make sure that
food sold or served are of high quality to promote a positively
healthy lifestyle in the country.
Professor Wong Mee Lian from
Singapore made the appeal at the Health Promotion Seminar for food
importers here.
In the country, three diseases are
related to obesity such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease
which can cause death.
Professor Wong said every individual
and community should practise taking a balanced diet and food
importers in particular should be aware of its importance.
“The diseases”, she said, “can be
prevented by the adoption of healthy diet”.
Therefore, she urged food importers
to support healthy eating habits by increasing the supply of health
food products and making them more affordable.
At the seminar, food importers and
supermarkets are urged to change the business environment by promoting
health products such as by increasing the supply of low fat and low
salt food.
About 100 participants attended the
one-day seminar, which stressed on the role of specific parties in the
food industry and aimed to promote a healthier lifestyle.
