Books Still Top Source Of Teaching
Aid
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Books still play its role as the source of teaching
and educational aid.
Dr Haji Ismail bin Haji Duraman, Vice
Chancellor of University Brunei Darussalam (UBD), highlighted this
before launching a book written by a local student.
He pointed this as the main reason
why books are still relevant even in this age of ICT and globalisation
and its usage need to be continued.
“In today's world”, he said, “the
books could serve as a complement added value to the present teaching
and educational materials,” he stressed.
He further added that this is in line
with UBD's function to enrich reference books, reading and experiment
books, especially in the discipline field that lacks reading
materials.
“By this way we can upgrade UBD's
ability in spreading education through book publishing to the communit,”
he said.
The book entitled "Kaedah Pengajaran
dan Pembelajaran Sejarah" or “Methods in Teaching and Studying
History" was written by Awang Zelzy Shahar Al-Johary.
Born in Kampong Sumbiling Lama, Awang
Zelzy is now doing his PhD in History in Education at the Institute of
Education, University of London.
The book is targeted for use by
primary schools, secondary schools, university students, especially
those taking up teaching.
The book stresses on methods of
teaching and studying history in schools in the country.
Also included are ways of making
teaching plans and teaching and studying sources.
The 114-page book is now on sale and
can be obtained for $9 at the Literature and Social Science
Department, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education, University
