Prince Says Brunei Athletes Should
Do Best To Win
Bandar Seri
Begawan - His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah,
President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, has
stressed that Brunei athletes should not simply think of easy winning.
“They should fight to their best to
win against their opponents, no matter who they are, whether they are
world champions or of world ranking,” he said.
His Royal Highness made the speech at
the 22nd SEA Games post mortem meeting with members of the Brunei
Darussalam National Olympic Council and officers from the Ministry of
Culture, Youth and Sports at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in
Berakas yesterday.
The Prince said, every athlete of
other participating country has improved with high standards and so
Brunei athletes should catch up and continue to put up a strong
challenge to win, no matter what it takes.
The managers of the events presented
brief reports of their team's achievement at the meeting.
Most of the teams had shown good
progress and improvement.
They said the athletes should be
well-trained and be more exposed to make them really qualified to
compete at the international level.
The team managers also expressed
their gratitude to his royal highness for attending the meeting and
for supporting the national athletes competing in the games in
Vietnam.
The meeting was to re-evaluate the
country's achievements and to discuss ways to improve the performance
