34 artists in art show

Art Forum Brunei 2004 exhibition,
featuring the works of local and international painters, was launched
last night by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Dato
Dr. Hj Awang Hussain.
The exhibition at the Art Gallery of
the Brunei Museum, Arts & Handicraft building, showcases the paintings
of 34 artists from 15 countries, including France and New Zealand.
French Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary, Mr. Thierry Borja de Mozota, who was also recently
appointed as the first Chairman of the Brunei Art Forum, delivered a
speech.
Guests from the government and
private sectors, and members of the foreign diplomatic community were
warmly welcomed by the President of the Provisional Committee of
Brunei Art Forum, Mr. Jose Frietaz Crus. He also gave brief opening
remarks.
He expressed his thanks to the
sponsors: Aluminium Technologies, CfBT, Standard Chartered Bank,
Brunei LNG, RBA, Tech Guan Properties, City Neon (Brunei), ALLEY -
Framemaker, Worldwide Arts Resources, and Rainforest Gallery.
Art Forum Brunei 2004 is open to the
general public until Jan 30.The works exhibited are for sale.
