Local Jailed, Caned For Committing Mischief

Bandar Seri Begawan - A father of two who committed mischief onto a car windscreen and to the Limau Manis Police Station windows was sentenced to 6 months in jailed and two strokes of the cane by the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The defendant, Amran, went to his neighbour’s house in Kampong Masin and saw a Nissan Cefiro parked at the compound of the said house, said the prosecutor.

He then proceeded to smash the front and rear windscreen of the motor vehicle with a wooden stick, which he brought with him, Pg Nina Jasmine Pg Hj Bahrin said.

The front and rear windscreen of the car was smashed, with damages amounting to $1,550.

He was arrested on the same day he committed the offence and was brought to the investigation room at Limau Manis Police Station for further investigation.

Whilst in the investigation room, he suddenly stood up and smashed his head on the windows of the said room, with damages amounting to $8 to replace the window, said the prosecutor. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
