Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Malaysian brothers in their 20s were jailed for three months each yesterday after both pleaded guilty to a charge of entering the Kingdom illegally before the BSB Magistrate’s Court.

Yusri Metassan, 28, and his brother, Sufri Metassan, 24, told the court that they came here on an emergency to bring Yusri’s wife, a local, to visit her mother who is being warded at the hospital.

Magistrate Muhammed Faisal PD Hj Keiflie heard from the Immigrations prosecutor that both defendants were arrested by Marine Police in Sungai Brunei two days ago.

Prosecuting officer Moharefandi Hj Md Tahir told the court that police found the defendants not in possession of passports during their arrest.

During the course of investigations, both had admitted to entering the Brunei territorial waters without passports or any form of valid travel document. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
