Allah Chooses To Award Al-Hafiz

Bandar Seri Begawan – The glory of having the title of al-hafiz is with highest standard and grade in the eyes of Allah the Almighty.

The people respect it because memorizing the Al-Quran is not an easy task, as it needs sacrifices.

Pehin Dato Haji Awang Salim, Syarie High Court Judge, stressed this at the launching of the Taaruf Week for the new intake of Tahfiz Al-Quran at Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute session 2004.

“Anyone, who has the title of al-hafiz, is basically chosen by Allah to be awarded with something precious. It’s a trust which is also not easy for him to continue and protect the honour bestowed on him,” he said.

He added that the advantage of the title of al-hafiz is apart from protecting the holy Quran, the benefit also goes to his family by his memorizing the holy book.

From nearly 200 applicants, only 38 pupils, 15 boys and 23 girls were selected to enrol in the institute.

Before entering, they have to pass initial tests such as the ability of memorizing seven lines of verses in the Al-Quran in 30 minutes.

Applicants should also be able to read the Al-Quran and write Jawi well.
