Samsung SDS Links Up In Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan - In line with the country's vision to become a global hub for ICT, Korea's largest Information Technology (IT) has come in as a solution provider for Brunei's s e-government.

Vice President of Samsung SDS, Mr Hyun Soo Choi said, "Korea has a big vision with Brunei to become the largest players in the world of ICT."

He described Brunei has having an advanced IT infrastructure, especially with the abundance of resources and well-trained people. "With such infrastructure, Brunei, in the market's eyes, has the potential in building the best e-government system," he added.

He said this at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Strategic ICT Alliance in Brunei between Samsung SDS, E-Prime Network Sdn Bhd, and IT Max Pt. Ltd.. held yesterday at the Empire Hotel and Country Club.

Signing on behalf of Samsung SDS was. Mr Hyun Soo Choi; representing E Prime Network Sdn. Bhd was its President, Pg Hj Mohd Suhaimi Alauddin, whilst representing IT Max Pt. Ltd. was the CEO, Mr Lee Ho.

This is the first such MoU to be signed between Korea and Brunei, according to Mr Hyun Soo Choi. Present to witness the signing of MoU, was the Korean Ambassador to Brunei, Kim Woong-Nam.

Also present were the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dato Paduka Hj Abd. Rahman bin Hj Mohiddin and former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Paduka Hj Yusof bin Pg Kula.

The president of E Prime said, "by partnering with Samsung SDS, being the largest ICT solution provider in Korea, this will show us some enlightenment in enhancing the productivity of Brunei's e-government".

"E-Prime's main task in this MoU is to bring in the expertise - Samsung SDS, into Brunei, that is, transfer knowledge to the locals," Pg Hj Mohd Suhaimi added.

E-Prime Sdn.Bhd, a local company dealing with ICT which was established over a year ago, works closely with IT Max. a Singapore-based ICT company registered in Brunei, after having learnt of Brunei's IT market potential.  -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
