Policemen Urged To Perform Duties
Seriously
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Officers and personnel of the Royal Brunei Police are
urged to take seriously their responsibilities in safeguarding the
security, peace and tranquillity of the nation.
Dato
Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Johan, Commissioner of Police, made the
call at a parade marking the 83rd Police Day anniversary at the Police
Training Centre in Gadong yesterday.
“It is of utmost importance that
every staff of the police force associate and cooperate with people
from all walks of life so that the responsibility of maintaining peace
and security in the country could be shouldered together,” he said.
He believed that the public's
negative perception of the force could be rectified by concerted
efforts in the implementation of projects through the neighbourhood
crime watch.
The police commissioner called on all
personnel of the force to further upgrade the quality of service and
to make it a prerogative in executing their daily duties in particular
in dealing with the public.
“All forms of crimes such as
terrorism and trans-national crimes, to name a few, are challenges
that need to be dealt with effectively,” he pointed out.
Ten police officers, including those
from the rank in file and civilian staff received certificates of
appreciation for their outstanding service.
A field performance of combat drill
by the police reserve unit lent colour to yesterday's event.
